Toulouse Hotspot (April 2013)

At the first really warm and sunny weekend in NW Europe, I got on a flight to Toulouse (Southern France). In 3 days I visited 4 new WHS. It was a bit rushed, especially the Causses and Cevennes could have done with a bit more of my time. But in general it was a great long weekend. And it led to the first reported visit of Albi on this website!

Loire Valley & Paris (April 2012)

I spent this holiday weekend (Queen's Day in Holland on April 30th) in Paris. I had arrived smoothly by Thalys train on Friday evening, and visited the Musee d'Orsay and Musee Guimet on Saturday. On Sunday I had a great day at the Chateau Chambord, the pearl of the Loire Valley, and the town of Blois. And finally, on Monday morning I walked along all the great sights on the Banks of the Seine.

Bordeaux (October 2011)

Last Thursday evening, my mother and I flew to Bordeaux for a long weekend. We enjoyed the city and had some marvellous food experiences (I don't drink alcohol so wine tasting was not on my agenda). It is easy to pick up 3 WHS here: Bordeaux itself already covers 2: the 18th century city center ('Bordeaux, Port of the Moon') and 3 medieval churches that are part of the Routes of Santiago de Compostela in France. About half an hour away you can enjoy the vineyard landscape of Saint-Emilion.
