Portugal revisited (December 2012)

I just spent 3 days in Portugal, picking up some remaining WHS (Elvas, Batalha), revisiting Belem and checking out Portugal's nomination for 2013: Coimbra University.
It was a succesful weekend - all sites were open and in good condition, and driving on Portugal's quiet roads is a breeze. The quality of these 4 sites is certainly above average, although one might become fed up with Manueline architecture after a while.

Portugal (December 2002)

During the last 10 days of the year I toured around Portugal and Madeira. I visited six new heritage sites, revisited an old one (Sintra) and missed two due to weather circumstances. Among the most impressive I count the center of Guimaraes, the castle and convent of Tomar and the monastery of Alcobaça.
