Cuenca and Valencia (November 2011)
I finished my week in Spain driving back eastwards again, to Valencia via Cuenca. Cuenca is a touristy town with a spectacular setting. Even the main parking is reached via a tunnel into the middle of the rock. Valencia is the third biggest city of Spain, and is pleasant enough for a day or two. In general, I found this eastern part of Spain less interesting than others that I have visited (Asturias, Andalucia, Catalunia).

East of Madrid (November 2011)
I had been to Madrid and its surroundings a couple of times before, but I never managed to fit in Aranjuez and Alacala de Henares. Possibly because they're not the most appealing WHS. These two are about one hour apart, and a visit to both can be fit in one day. I enjoyed strolling in the gardens of Aranjuez, which were in full autumn colours. I wasn't impressed by Alcalá de Henares however.

Teruel Province (November 2011)
I'm in Spain for a week, trying to cover an area that I have not seen before: Valencia and bordering interior provinces. I started in the city of Teruel with its magnificent Mudéjar towers that add an oriental touch to the cityscape. The next day I enjoyed the scenery of the Sierra de Albarracín, where I also visited a couple of Mediterranean rock-art sites.
