Uzbekistan (May 2010)

Uzbekistan is an incomparable destination. It featured on my wish list for a long time, and finally now (May 2010) I made it there on a tour combination with Turkmenistan. Although the country also has its flaws (food, landscape, oppressive regime, tacky souvenir stalls everywhere), its historic monuments are outstanding and very well preserved or restored. Definitely a must-see for anybody interested in history or architecture.
