RTW trip #8: Central Vietnam (March 2011)

Central Vietnam is a true WHS Hotspot, where with some effort you can visit 4 WHS within 3 days. I took it more slowly and stayed a couple of days longer in both Hué and Hoi An. The unexpected highlight of this area for me was the Phong Nha Cave: a bit similar to Ha Long Bay, but a much more rewarding experience due to the low-key boat ride on the Underground River.

RTW trip #7: Around Hanoi (February 2011)

Vietnam is the next stop on my RTW-tour: my first visit to this historic country. I started with a couple of days in its capital Hanoi. There I visited the Thang Long Citadel WHS, and went on a day tour to Ha Long Bay. What I liked best however was Old Hanoi: its terrific old quarter, bustling with life and trade at every street corner.
