Translated Toponyms

Descriptive elements in WHS names that have been left in their original language, but include an explanatory statement in English. Not including English/French. This connection is similar to Untranslated Toponyms, where the descriptive element stays untranslated.

Ir. D.F. Woudagemaal "Gemaal" is a pumping station in the Dutch language. As confirmed by the English translation in the full site name.
Museumsinsel (Museum Island) "Insel" is German for island. English translation given in the full name.
Rani-ki-Vav A Vav is a stepwell in Gujarati. The full site name includes the English translation.
Rietveld Schröderhuis "Huis" is Dutch for House. Translation in English in the full name.
Sansa, Buddhist Mountain Monasteries "Sansa" is a Korean term for any Korean Buddhist temple located on a mountain. Full name in English confirms this "Buddhist Mountain Monasteries".
Seowon, Neo-Confucian Academies "Seowon (Korean: 서원) were the most common educational institutions of Korea during the Joseon Dynasty." - English translation in full name given as "Neo-Confucian Academies".
Stećci Stecci is derived from the South Slavic verb stajati (engl. stand). It literally means "tall, standing thing". In the 20th century the word stećak was accepted in science as a general term, including for plate tombstones. The full name comes with the explanation 'Medieval Tombstone Graveyards'.
