Benin ratified the UNESCO World Heritage Convention on 14 June 1982, and its inscribed properties include both cultural and natural sites.

Cultural listings feature the Royal Palaces of Abomey, representing pre-colonial kingdom architecture and royal symbolism, and the transnational Koutammakou landscape, reflecting traditional mud-built tower-houses and human–landscape integration. The natural W–Arly–Pendjari Complex highlights savannah ecosystems, wildlife conservation, and biodiversity in a cross-border context.
