Burundi ratified the UNESCO World Heritage Convention in 1982.
It currently has no inscribed World Heritage sites, but maintains a diverse tentative list featuring both cultural and natural properties. Proposed cultural entries include historic royal residences and ritual drum sanctuaries, while natural nominations highlight sacred landscapes, national parks, lakes, waterfalls, and sources of the Nile.
