El Salvador

2.77 1 6

El Salvador accepted the UNESCO World Heritage Convention on October 8, 1991, and its inscriptions to date focus exclusively on cultural heritage.

Its sole inscribed site is an exceptionally preserved pre‑Hispanic farming village, illustrating daily Mesoamerican life and the impact of volcanic activity. Common themes in its nominations—both inscribed and on the Tentative List—include archaeological significance, daily life in ancient societies, colonial‑era settlements and mixed cultural‑natural landscapes
