Guinea ratified the UNESCO World Heritage Convention on March 18, 1979. Its sole inscribed site, Mount Nimba Strict Nature Reserve, represents a natural heritage focus, highlighting biodiversity-rich mountain ecosystems and endemic species.
On its Tentative List, both natural and cultural properties are included—common themes being cultural landscapes, vernacular architecture, historic trade routes, and mixed sites where human history and natural environments interweave.
