The Marshall Islands accepted the UNESCO World Heritage Convention on 24 April 2002, making both its cultural and natural heritage eligible for inscription.
Its sole inscription to date, Bikini Atoll Nuclear Test Site, is recognized as a cultural property significant for its Cold War history and environmental legacy. Tentative nominations span mixed and natural sites—including atoll ecosystems, historic village districts, and marine conservation areas.
