The Federated States of Micronesia accepted the UNESCO World Heritage Convention on 22 July 2002.
Its sole inscribed property, Nan Madol: Ceremonial Centre of Eastern Micronesia, is a cultural site renowned for its complex megalithic architecture built between the 13th and 15th centuries. Its tentative list includes the cultural asset of the traditional Yapese stone money sites.
