Mongolia accepted the UNESCO World Heritage Convention on 2 February 1990. Its inscribed sites include both cultural and natural properties.
Cultural nominations commonly highlight nomadic-pastoral landscapes and religious-monastic architecture (such as the Orkhon Valley and sacred monasteries), as well as prehistoric rock art and funerary monuments like deer-stone complexes and petroglyphs. Natural listings emphasize vast steppe ecosystems, desert regions, and transboundary wetlands (including Uvs Nuur and the Landscapes of Dauria).
