South Sudan ratified the UNESCO World Heritage Convention on November 9, 2016. It does not currently have any inscribed World Heritage sites, but its Tentative List highlights natural and cultural properties.
The country's heritage reflects a strong connection between natural ecosystems—such as the Sudd wetlands—and long-standing human land-use patterns shaped by mobility, subsistence livelihoods, and cultural resilience in a diverse ecological landscape.
