Tajikistan ratified the UNESCO World Heritage Convention in 1992, as a successor state to the Soviet Union which did so in 1988.
It features both cultural and natural properties on the World Heritage List—highlighted by archaeological sites like Sarazm and vast mountain ecosystems such as the Pamir National Park—demonstrating a dual focus. Its Tentative List further includes Silk Road corridors, ancient settlements, mausoleums, tugay forests, and high‑mountain reserves.
