National Park Hohe Tauern
The National Park "Hohe Tauern" extends over an area of more than 1,800 square kilometre and is the largest protected area in the Alps. The national park is divided into a strictly protected core zone characterized by numerous glacier areas and a cultivated outer zone (the proposed buffer zone). The core zone includes the Pasterze, the longest glacier of the Eastern Alps and the Großglockner, the highest peak in Austria.
