Historic Center of the Yenisseisk
Yeniseysk played an important role in Russian colonization of East Siberia in the 17th–18th centuries. It was the first town on the Yenisei River and its strategic location stimulated farming, shipping and trade. It has preserved its 18th/19th century cityscape well, with the Spasso-Preobrazhenski Monastery as its most important landmark.
