Bosque petrificado de Puyango
Bosque petrificado de Puyango is part of the Tentative list of Ecuador in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The petrified forest of Puyango is 70 million years old. The main attractions are the petrified trees of the Araucarioxylon genus, which are up to 15m in length. There are also fossils of leaves corresponding to four genera of primitive plants resembling the present ferns and palms.
