The Defensive Complex of Valdivia

The Defensive Complex of Valdivia is part of the Tentative list of Chile in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

The Defensive Complex of Valdivia comprises four fortresses near the Valdivia River. They were built in the 17th century by the Spanish to deter rival European powers. It was also a major supply source for Spanish ships that crossed the Strait of Magellan.
