The Core of the Mayan Area
The Core of the Mayan Area is part of the Tentative list of Guatemala in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Core of the Mayan Area in central Petén comprises the center of the Mayan Biosphere Reservation which has the biggest rain forest in the country. The archaeological sites in this area are strongly related to Tikal. It possibly includes the same sites as the Cuenca Mirador TWHS.
