Insular area and bay of Colonia del Sacramento
Insular area and bay of Colonia del Sacramento is part of the Tentative list of Uruguay in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List. It is a proposed extension of Colonia del Sacramento WHS.
The Insular area and bay of Colonia del Sacramento comprises the heritage of the first colonial maritime settlements. Several shipwrecks have been found in the bay. San Gabriel Island is where the Portuguese first landed.
