Le site métallurgique de Begon II is part of the Tentative list of Chad in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Begon II metallurgical site is an iron production site from between the 9th and 11th centuries. It was used at the time for the manufacture of farm tools, weapons, and currency for the Sara peoples. 53 stoves were found, as well as the tree species which provided the charcoal for the smelting.
