Les villes bastionnées des Pays-Bas du nord-ouest de l'Europe is part of the Tentative list of France in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
Les villes bastionnées des Pays-Bas du nord-ouest de l'Europe are a group of fortified cities in the open terrain of northeast France, Belgium and the southern regions of the Netherlands. In the course of history, this region has repeatedly been the scene of armed conflicts and invasions, forcing the cities to constantly renew and adapt their fortifications. The best known examples in France are Lille and Arras.
