Le fleuve Niger, les îles et la vallée is part of the Tentative list of Niger in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Niger River has a diverse landscape and a rich and varied cultural heritage. It includes 14 inhabited islands, which have special traditions such as houses painted by women. The area has been settled since prehistoric times. Rock engravings and terracotta statues have been found.
