Kikori River Basin / Great Papuan Plateau is part of the Tentative list of Papua New Guinea in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
Kikori River Basin / Great Papuan Plateau covers a dramatic landscape with undisturbed forest, the extinct volcano of Mt. Bosavi and karst features. It is known for its floral diversity and endemic bird and fish species. Important cultural sites include burial caves, cave paintings and longhouse buildings.
