Chott El Jerid
Chott El Jerid is part of the Tentative list of Tunisia in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
Chott El Jerid is a large endorheic salt lake. Usually it has little water in it and there is only a hypersaline wet layer. It is the largest salt pan of the Sahara Desert, with a surface area of over 7,000 km2. It is an important area for birds, such as large numbers of flamingos.
