La grande mosquée de vendredi de Niono is part of the Tentative list of Mali in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Great Friday Mosque of Niono is a prime example of earthen, Sudanese architecture. It has a high minaret on the west façade and three smaller minarets on the east side. It was built by masons from Djenné. It was completed in 1973.
