The Gateway to the Old King's Yards is part of the Tentative list of Sierra Leone in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Gateway to the Old King’s Yards was the entrance to the compound where men and women freed from slavery were temporarily housed. Freetown was built as a settlement for freed slaves from England and the New World.
