Aire naturelle protégée de Djalélo is part of the Tentative list of Djibouti in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.

The protected natural area of Djalélo is home to the long-necked Waller's gazelle or Gerenuk. Other endemic animals are the Beira antelope, Soemmering's gazelle, Pelzeln's gazelle and Salt's dik-dik. Djalelo is named after the (mostly dry) river that flows at the bottom of the valley.
