Mayo Chinchipe - Marañón archaeological landscape
Mayo Chinchipe - Marañón is part of the Tentative list of Ecuador in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Mayo Chinchipe Marañón culture in the foothills of the Andes dates back 5,000 years. It is a culture related to the the production and social use of cacao. Their best known archaeological site is Santa Ana - La Florida, where a circular plaza and ceremonial fireplaces have been found.
