Petroglyph Site of Sauyskandyk
Petroglyphs within the Archaeological Landscape of Sauyskandyk is part of the Tentative list of Kazakhstan in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Petroglyph Site of Sauyskandyk is situated on the western end of Karatau mountains. It contains archeological sites such as necropolis (kurum and kurgans), petroglyphs, rock carving and cult construction related to the social and cultural life of local communities from the Bronze Age to the beginning of the 20th century. Of all those remains, the petroglyphs are the most valuable.
