The Hezheng Mammalian Fossil Sites of Gansu represent the fauna of the late Cenozoic. They also show mammals' migration routes and distribution patterns at the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The components stretch across four climates and include rhino, hyena and horse fossils.
