Cultural Landscapes of Cape York Peninsula
Cultural Landscapes of Cape York Peninsula is part of the Tentative list of Australia in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Cultural Landscapes of Cape York Peninsula comprise components known for their role in the Traditional Owners’ cultural beliefs, their rock art and their geology. It's an associative cultural landscape that holds great value to present day Aboriginal communities. Its biodiversity derives from the peninsula being the link of the Australian continent through the Torres Strait with New Guinea, where species movement in both directions via land-bridges has taken place.
