Cockpit Country Protected Area

Cockpit Country Protected Area is part of the Tentative list of Jamaica in order to qualify for inclusion in the World Heritage List.
The Cockpit Country Protected Area comprises a karst landscape in the west of Jamaica. It is notable for its endemic plants and birds. The area and its cave systems was also used as a refuge for both the Tainos and the Leeward Maroons.
