St David's, it's a long way from everywhere

Eglises romanes d'Andorre (Removed from tentat…)
Eglises romanes d'Andorre
I can only comment of the one Romanesque church of Andorra that I have been to, the Church of Sant Esteve, in Andorra la Vella. In 2016 I was staying in …

Evidence of Italo-Greek Culture
Of the 5 sites listed for consideration, I have only managed to go to one of them, Gerace. I found Gerace to be a charming and interesting southern Italian hilltop …

Pharaonic temples in Upper Eg… (On tentative list)
Pharaonic temples in Upper Egypt
The four Pharaonic temples of Dendera, Esna, Edfu and Kom Ombo make up the tentative nomination and I have been fortunate enough to visit Dendera and Kom Ombo.I enjoyed The …

Tropea (Removed from tentat…)
Tropea
Tropea is the ideal tourist town in southern Italy. Crumbling, rustic charm built on a cliff overlooking a sandy beach and the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean sea.

Rhodes (Inscribed)
Rhodes
When Greece opened up for package holidays, the first two major islands to be developed for mass tourism were Corfu and Rhodes, and having been to both (more than once) …

Maritime Greenwich (Inscribed)
Maritime Greenwich
Greenwich, part of London but just far enough away from the center to make it seem like a place apart. It's not even on the underground network, you need to …

Brugge (Inscribed)
Brugge
I've been to Brugge three times and I'm yet to be disappointed.I know we are all different but I really struggle to see how people rate Brugge at three stars. …

The Bodrum Castle (On tentative list)
The Bodrum Castle
There only appears to be one other review of the Bodrum Castle here and it's quite negative, but also fairly accurate.
Coming from Wales, we have some pretty spectacular …

Kyiv: St. Cyril's and St. Andrew's Churches
Coming from the UK, where all our great cathedrals and abbeys are built of stone with no colour on the exterior save for the stained glass windows, the cathedrals and …

D-Day Landing Beaches, Normandy, 1944
Les Plages du Débarquement, Normandie, 1944, are better known in English as the D Day Landing Beaches in Normandy. The five beaches that make up the D Day landings are (from …

Fortified Manasija Monastery
On a damp October day I visited the Manasija Monastery on the way back from a day out at Resava cave and Lisine waterfall which made for a very pleasant …

Knights Fortifications around… (On tentative list)
Knights Fortifications around Harbours of Malta
I agree with the comments of others here, this nomination makes little sense, the city of Valletta is already a UNESCO site, it's a tiny city, the smallest capital in …

Fortress of Suomenlinna
A short ferry ride across the bay from Helsinki, Suomenlinna makes for a pleasant excursion from the Finnish capital.Apart from the many fortifications there is quite a lot to see …

Ancient Greek Theatres (On tentative list)
Ancient Greek Theatres
I don't envy the people who have to say which of the ancient Greek theatres deserve UNESCO listing because there are a lot and even some of the small ones …

Central Park (Nominated)
Central Park
Across the River Mersey from Liverpool is the unassuming town of Birkenhead. What has this got to do with Central Park? You may be thinking, well, quite a lot actually. When …

Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou
I'm probably being overly harsh giving it 3.5 stars because it was enjoyable and I've never been anywhere like it before or after. I guess the rating I gave it …

Poblet Monastery (Inscribed)
Poblet Monastery
I seem to be bucking the trend here by awarding Poblet 4 stars but I really enjoyed my visit there. It's a very impressive 14th century Cistercian abbey, set among …
