I visited Al-Ayn in November 2025 on a day trip from Nizwa driving a rental car. The site is not so easy to find since the signaling ends abruptly and google maps doesn’t show the exact location either.

To access the site, I left my car by the side of the road, walked by the side of a family’s house, walked a few meters through an empty river and then found the entrance to the site, where some goats were quietly having their lunch

After that, you just have to walk a little bit until you reach the top.

I found the site truly amazing. The state of the beehive tombs is fantastic considering how old they are and the whole location is gorgeous, with the mountains behind and a great view of the whole valley.

Plus, I totally enjoyed having such a wonderful place almost all for myself and free! A totally worthwhile visit despite the relative remoteness, not only for WHS collectors but to any tourist
