Guyana accepted the UNESCO World Heritage Convention on June 20, 1977.
It currently has no inscribed World Heritage sites, although its Tentative List includes both cultural and natural properties. Recurring themes in its nominations feature colonial-era architecture in Georgetown—such as Gothic Revival civic buildings and Dutch-period forts—as well as coastal and marine ecosystems like Shell Beach.
