Mavhuradonha Wilderness
The Mavhuradonha Wilderness is a vast cultural landscape rich in both natural beauty and historical significance, ranging from prehistoric times to the present.
Its natural heritage is highlighted by unique botanical reserves, diverse bird species, and rare paleontological sites containing dinosaur remains. Culturally, the area preserves some of the earliest evidence of human activity and farming communities in Southern Africa, dating back to 450 AD. The region also holds the archaeological remains of the historic Mutapa state, including several dry stone structures. Today, many of these sites remain spiritually significant, serving as "living heritage" for local and regional communities.
