Botho, Diplomacy and Peace
Botho, Diplomacy and Peace - Basotho Nation-building Cluster of Sites, comprises five sites that represent the evolution of the Basotho nation during the early nineteenth century.
Among them is Thaba-Bosiu National Monument, a sandstone plateau that was the capital of Lesotho, as King Moshoeshoe's stronghold. It was from this plateau that the King fended off attackers such as Shaka Zulu soldiers and Afrikaners. Protection by the British in 1868 was agreed here as well. It remains a place of remembrance for members of the Royal Family and the country.
